Sébastien Loeb Wins the Sixth Rally in a Row

Citroens have done really well at the last World Rally Championship in Wales. They took the first, third and forth places leaving the second one for Ford Focus. The winner was Sébastien Loeb, a French driver for whom this was the sixth consecutive victory at the race and the 54th in his general career.

It was not very easy to win the rally, because Mikko Hirvonen was very close and let the victory slip by only one minute. Although the Ford driver started the final day of the WRC over 30 seconds behind, by the middle of the day he almost caught up. Unfortunately, the vehicle let him down: the hood of the Focus opened and was smacking the windshield limiting the driver’s view. Hirvonen had to stop and rip the hood off in order to continue the race. He still did great considering that the next Citroen driven by Dani Sorgo was left only one second behind.

After these three drivers Petter Solberg came in a Citroen, followed by Henning Solberg, Matthew Wilson and Jari-Matti Latvala all of which drove Ford Focus. The eighth place was taken by Conrad Rautenbach in a Citroen.
