Toyota and Ford Celebrate Hybrid Success

Hybrid invasion of the U.S. is going fast and soon every second car on the roads will be “green”. This week was significant for Japanese and American automakers: Toyota has announced that it reached one million mark in sales of gas-electric cars for American customers and Ford has assembled 100,000th hybrid SUV.
Both automakers are happy that U.S. drivers are fond of “green” vehicles and according to the data, the interest in this kind of autos keeps growing.
It took less than nine years for the Japanese automaker to assemble and sell one million of hybrids marked as Toyota and Lexus which is really not bad! Seventy five percent of flex-fuel vehicles are made by them; most of the rest belong to Honda and Ford. Toyota plans to expand the variety of green cars in its line of production, adding ten new hybrids, and intending to sell one million gas-electric cars per year worldwide.
Ford is filling in the “green” line for SUVs really well. Although automotive industry is weak and sales are very low, Escape hybrid showed 55% increase in February. The 100,000th silver SUV has rolled off assembly line in Kansas City Assembly Plant this Tuesday.
