Mazda Recalls Sedans, while Chrysler Fixes Minivans

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) demands the recalls due to various reasons. Their last study of 2009 Mazda 6 showed there has not been enough work done on the outer door handles which may stick and prevent doors from latching well.

While some people do not consider it as a big problem, the NHTSA agents say the unlatched door can open while the vehicle is in motion and an unbuckled driver will get injured or fall out. The recall has started on February 13 and any dealership will be glad to inspect the handles on claimed 2009 Mazda 6.

However this automaker’s problem is not nearly as bad as Chrysler’s. NHTSA reported that minivans made by the American manufacturer have to be recalled because the uncapped connectors for the blind-spot detection system have a chance to become too hot and cause fire. In addition, if the unused electrical connectors corrode and short-circuit, the other parts of the auto may be affected such as rear heater/air-conditioner, compass display, door courtesy lamps and integral flashlight.

Chrysler dealers are expecting all 2009 Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans starting this month. The technicians will seal the power circuit at the connector and replace the fuse if necessary.
