2009 Geneva Auto Show: Aston Martin V12 Vantage

2009 Geneva Auto Show is going to surprise us with “the most potent production sports car in the marque’s 95-year history” according to Aston Martin. The British manufacturer is really proud of its new V12Vantage, several images of which have been released a few days ago.

The sport car borrows V8 Vantage base from last year, getting the upgrade on the engine: 6.0-liter V12 that outputs 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Together with this comes the mid-mounted six-speed manual transmission. Aston Martin says the 12 cylinders make the coupe reach 190 mph, but there is a good chance some tuner will work on an upgrade package for it squeezing even higher speed out of it.

As for the true sport features the two-seater V12 Vantage obtained louvered hood, side skirts, front bumper with large air intakes, big rear spoiler and carbon ceramic brake disks. Lightweight materials were used to reduce the weight of the car: the body is built with aluminum, carbon fiber, steel and magnesium alloy.

Aston Martin plans to assemble only 300-500 units of V12 Vantage per year launching the production this summer in Gaydon, England.
