GPS Owners Feel More Relaxed on the Road
We have already written a lot about GPS, their functions and modifications. These devices are getting more and more popular and attract not only reporters’ attention but also researchers’ interest. A study conducted in the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute has discovered that GPS devices positively affect drivers’ safety.
According to the results of the research 70% of drivers fell less stressed using GPS and 59% say that GPS device help them concentrate their attention of the road ahead.
Who do you think has initiated the study? Of course it was GPS manufacturer TomTom.
These results seem to be quite logic. When you don’t have to pay attention to all those road signs, marking and other distractions of course you are able to concentrate on the road better. But what about the fact that drivers using GPS have to look down to its screen and then again at the road? Isn’t this a distractive factor? The research does not answer.
