Alfa Romeo SUV Will Appear in 2010

If Alfa Romeo decides to return to US market it will have to represent something more than just its sexy Italian image. On these shores the two main elements are of the first importance – eco-friendliness and sport-utes. Recently the two main direction of development were confirmed for the company by its new CEO, Luca de Meo, Fiat Group wunderkind. According to the firs direction the company will produce a crossover or a sport-utility vehicle. The second direction implies design of the own a start-stop engine system.

The crossover is to be launched in 2010. The crossover was previewed by the Kamal concept at the 2003 Geneva show. The car is expected to be based on the 159 platform which is now used in Alfa’s Q4 all-wheel-drive system and offers a few turbodiesel and gasoline engines.
When Alfa Romeo appears on the market it will meet strong rivals such as Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLK and Volkswagen Tiguan.
