VW Phaeton Will Return to the USA?

To tell the truth the Phaeton has not managed to meet the US sales expectations. However this did not make Volkswagen authorities put away the idea of another push of the North American market of luxury cars. Currently VW Phaeton is very popular in Europe. In Germany, for example, for the first quarter of 2008 sales of the car are up by 45,5 percent. This makes the automaker authorities consider the idea of the Phaeton’s return to the American shores.

It is expected that the Phaeton shipping across the Atlantic will start in the end of the year. However Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking, head of VW’s largest shareholder thinks that the Phaeton will not be able to fly again. Taking into consideration the chilly reception of the car in the USA, it is difficult to blame him. So the problem of reestablishment of VW as the affordable people’s car remains open.
