Google Maps in New BMW Models
Beginning from 2008 the owners of BMW X6 and of all 2009 BMW models will be able to send phone numbers, directions and other important information to their cars using Google Maps. For this it is necessary to have your car provided with a BMW Assist Safety Plan.
Of course to do this drivers will have to use computer but the idea itself implies that they will not need to print out directions and maps as they will be coordinated with the nav system of the car. Via the vehicle’s Bluetooth system drivers will be able to send and dial phone numbers.

For all BMW 5, 6 and 7 series cars the BMW Assist Safety Plan is standard. It is also sold as separate option or as a part of other models’ option packages.
The difference between the BMW Assist Safety Plan and OnStar’s new Destination Download is that with the first system you do not need an operator.
