Merger of XM and Sirius is Approved at Last
The question regarding the merger of two important broadcasting companies XM and Sirius has been in the making for a few months and now the Justice Department has approved the venture at last. The fact is the merger was signed off by the representatives of the companies in November. However until today the Justice Department could not decide whether the new company would be anti-competitive.
The reason of their anti-competitiveness is the growth of mobile broadband technologies. This trend allows for more buyers’ choice. This situation is very favorable for the both shareholders as it allows them to get what they want – getting ways to access entertainment on the fly.
However, before customers get all those great programming options XM and Sirius still need to get approval from the FCC.
