Ford’s New Accessories
To make its cars even more popular with American and European potential buyers Ford has announced that the 2009 F-Series, E-Series and upcoming Transit Connect work vans will be equipped with a number of job-friendly features called by the automaker Work Solutions.
The new Ford vehicles will offer an onboard computer with internet access and wireless printing, a scanner to inventory the on-board tools. a telematics system and a steel cable which secures items in the bed.
The onboard computer has a 6.5-inch screen and a wireless mouse, keyboard and stilus. On this computer you can work with spreadsheets and other documents and print them by means of wireless printer. Of course the computer in also equipped with a nav-system.
Crew Chief, the telematics system, can track real-time locations and provide different mechanical diagnostics.
Having equipped its vehicles with wide range of expensive tools Ford also has taken care of their safety. To prevent all this equipment from stealing the automaker uses Cable Lock system coming with eight-foot steel cable. It works like a bike lock running through the equipment handles thus locking it in place.
According to Allan Hall, Ford spokesman, the price of these accessories will be announced closer to their fall launch. However the features are expected to be very affordable. The same happened to Ford’s Sync, which is a $395 option.
