First Official Image of Lotus Eagle

A few days ago the world looked at first spy shots of the upcoming Lotus Eagle 2+2 sports car. And now the company has released the official photos of their creature. Unfortunately this image does not give us understanding what the vehicle will look like.

New Lotus Eagle

On the photo the front module of the aluminum chassis of the Eagle is clearly seen. The Versatile Vehicle Architecture was used in the new Eagle. It consists of bonded aluminum extrusions. This approach is very profitable as it allows utilizing much of the tooling to produce a variety of different cars. Using this architecture it is possible to increase the car up to 4,200 lbs. in weight. The same approach will be used for the other Lotus models in future including the new Esprit.
the Eagle’s front chassis module was created after Colin Chapman’s principle of “Add Lightness” as its weight is only 55lbs. The front suspension which carries 13.8-inch vented and cross-drilled rotors with special Lotus AP Racing four-pot brake calipers, consists of high strength forged aluminum control arms.
In comparison with the current Elise/Exige family cars the new Eagle will be provided with a hydraulic assist system for the steering rack.
The company is going to officially represent its new car at the British Motor Show in July.
