New Truck H3T from HUMMER

So here is the first drive review of the all new H3T pickup from Hummer.

We should admit once more that HUMMER engineers are real professionals. Creating this truck they understood that they not only have to be true to the iconic brand name and observe all the criteria for 4X4’s but also have to please the customers in quality, style and comfort.

So we may say that the new truck was developed on the basis of a mantra “It’s a HUMMER, it’s a HUMMER, it’s a HUMMER.” Having preserved famous family tagline the new H3T is still “like nothing else.”

If you like H3 but still need more cargo capacity the new H3T is just what you need as it is bigger than midsize truck but smaller than a full-sized one.
In the cab with four doors 5 adults can sit comfortably and the luxury which surrounds them is a constant mark of the brand. However from the cab on back, a whole new world opens to your eyes. A five-foot bed separated from the cab makes the new truck a real “go-anywhere warrior.”  It will take out into the wild not only you, your family or friends but also your favourite toys (snowmobiles, motorcycles, bicycles or camping gear) which will make your weekend much more comfortable, interesting and exciting.

Wearing the HUMMER badge, of course, means that everything in the car must be done as in HUMMER,. H3T, according to HUMMER’s Director of Design, Carl Zipfel, is the only midsize truck which comes with full-time four-wheel drive, 32″ tires and functional skid shields as standard. Only Hummer H3T offers front and rear locking differentials at the midsize market.

Any car can take your stuff but is it really able to get it to the place you want? the only H3T’s answer to this question is “YES!”
The first thought that comes to your mind at first glance at H3T is that it is too long. Perhaps it may affect off-road capability. The truck has a whopping 10.2″ of ground clearance with an approach angel of 38.7-degrees, a departure angle of 31.0-degrees and a 21.2-degree breakover angle. Add to this front and rear lockers and you get a truck which is capable to go anywhere you need even walk on water (by the way, it can ford to a depth of 24″.)

I mentioned the length of the truck as I was greatly concerned about it at the beginning of the test. I was expecting to spend much time making 3 and 4 point turns around trees. To my great surprise there was nothing of the kind! Actually on the more difficult sections of the trail the H3t worked better than its relative H3. Its longer wheelbase and locking diffs allow the truck perfectly swing around tight turns and bound over large boulders. The point is that all that difficult way we have performed with stock truck which I would never dare to do with stock Jeep.

That’s the beauty of a HUMMER.
Having analyzed all strong points of the new truck I understood that the H3T was going to be in demand. The only question the buyers will be interested in is “When can I get it?”
The H3T will be officially represented at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show and in 2009 is is to hit the markets.
Martin Walsh, HUMMER General Manager says that with its unique size and HUMMER traits, the H3T is ideal for the customer who works hard and plays harder. For most lifestyles, there’s almost nothing the H3T can’t handle. It’s a truck with HUMMER’s immutable capability.

Te design of five-foot bad is similar to that of other recently redesigned beds on full-size trucks of GM. But this one is much more perfect. In association with 160 aftermarket suppliers HUMMER has developed for its H3 and H3T Officially Licensed HUMMER accessories.
The H3T will be equipped with the in-line five, or the 5.3 L V8 and four trim levels. They will contain such standard features as AM/FM/XM CD and On Star, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, power locks and windows. Among factory available options you’ll have HUMMER’s Rear Vision system, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity and a navigation unit.
The car will be available with two suspension packages. The standard suspension is balanced for on-road comfort and off-road capability. People with more adventurous soul can choose the Adventure Package designed for off-road performance.
All HUMMERS are provided with broad range of safety features such as dual frontal air bags, head curtain side air bags, StabiliTrak and four-wheel ABS with traction control. Besides as all the HUMMERs the H3T comes with GM’s 5-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty.
The truck is expected to be priced in high thirties but still those who are fond of wild adventures or whose work is connected with danger will fall in love with it.

Perhaps someone is waiting for the results of the competition between H3T and other similar pickups like the Tacoma or the Dakota. However anyone who has seen and driven the H3T will tell you that ther can ve no competition as this truck is really “like nothing else.”
