Pickup Logos Prove that Size Matters
Do you know that there is a Battle of Logos among pickups which aims to adopt the appropriate logo size? The race was started by Dodge which at the Detroit auto show had announced that the logo of its pickup is 250 percent bigger than on the precious models. The designer Ralph Gilles told that the logo had reached its critical mass.
There are no limits for this competition. The logos of Ford’s redesigned F-150, . GM’s pickups, the Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan’s are all very impressive.
Who will become a winner? We decided to investigate every pick up with the help of the ruler. The investigation included the following steps:
1. Calculation of the total size in area – height times length – and measurements to the nearest quarter inch.
2. Finding out whichever logo is larger depending on its position – whether it is on the grille or on the tailgate.
We investigated only half-ton pickups, that’s why Ford F-450s and International MXTs were excluded. The Cadillac Escalade EXT and Lincoln Mark LT were also not examined. On principle. Because of their absence in Detroit.
So the seventh place is occupied by Hummer H2 SUT with its 25 square inches logo. The question is whether Hammer has ever had a badge. Actually not. Its logo is H U M M E R written in capitalized letters near the grille. Anyway we measured this logo but it has lost as those letters are just an inch height.

The sixth place was given to Toyota Tundra with its 30.4 square inches logo.

The fifth place – Ford F-150 with the logo of 31.5 square inches. The 2009 F-150 has such a massive grill that the logo on it seems dwarfish. The originality of the badge should be awarded, of course, but not its size.

The fourth place is occupied by Dodge Ram. Its badge is 33.1 square inches in size. As the company has proclaimed its chrome logo has increased the size. In the event of a style contest the Dodge’s logo would be praised of course but here size matters…

Nissan Titan took the third place – its logo is 35.8 square inches in size.
The second place is occupied by Chevrolet Silverado, Avalanche, with its 38.4 square inches logo. The GM’s position at the contest is very strong as the company builds half of all trucks taking part in the competition.
The first place is occupied by GMC Sierra. Its logo is 63.8 square inches. Someone may think that it is unfair as the GMC’s logo is a little more than its name spelled in capitalized letters on the grille. That’s tru, but remember that a lot of other cars are provided with their automakers’ names, beginning from Ford and ending with BMW. There can be no contest here. GMC’s logo in total area is bigger than the Tundra and F-150 logos taken together.
So the case is closed and the winner’s defined!
