Hybrid Car Award for Ford
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has awarded Ford Motor Company the Clean Vehicle Award. This award is granted to the company for the second time. The Agency praised Ford`s achievements in the sphere of lower energy consumption and high energy efficiency. The Award was presented to the company in Anaheim at the Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS).
The company was also recognized for its level of sales, as it managed to sell 50 000 hybrid vehicles all over the world. Ford shared the award with other manufacturers which have the highest sales figures.
Chief engineer, Fuel Cell Production Program, Ford Motor Company, Greg Frenette, underlines that the company considers hybrids to be very important for America`s future. He mentioned that their Escape Hybrid was the first American automaker`s hybrid as well as the most fuel-efficient SUV in the world.

The award has two additional categories - “The Best Practice Award” and “Personal Award”. The first recognizes the best promotional project, the second - is given to a person who devotes all his or her time and efforts to promote eco-friendly cars in unusual way.
Ford was recognized as the automaker which has passed the 25,000 milestone in eco-friendly vehicle sales by the Implementing Agreement on Hybrid & Electric Vehicles in 2006.
The Implementing Agreement on Hybrid and Electric Vehicles was launched in 1993 by the IEA. The aim was to gather reliable, objective information regarding the modern car technologies including such eco friendly ones as fuel cell cars, hybrids and electric vehicles. Eleven countries have representatives in this organization.
According to their researches Ford Motor Company plays an important role in bringing eco friendly innovations beginning in the early 1990s. With its hybrid Escape the company became a pioneer among US automakers. Ford Motor introduced its SUV which led the company to constant and stable success at the marketplace.
