New 2009 Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 was firstly redesigned in 2004 but how quickly the time passes - now it is the person # 1 among large light-duty pickups.

Its the only rival is Nissan Titan also redesigned in 2004. Although the demand for large pickups has recently decreased because of subprime-mortgage mess which caused the credit squeeze and construction slowdown, the F-Series is now popular as never before.

This consequently increases the interest of the public to the new 2009 model. Unfortunately Ford Corp. has lost too much money in recent years to be able to afford a clean-sheet redesign to defend the cars of F-Series. The photos show that Ford F-150 has preserved present truck’s basic chassis design, wheelbase and cargo-box lengths, as well as most of previous dimensions.

Styling was changed by adding a more-imposing grille like that on the Super-Duty models. The interior was changed much highlighted with new dashboard and became roomier.

Now it is difficult to predict the powerplant as according to Ford they were going to use at least three technologies. Of course the aim is to improve performance and fuel economy and maybe reduce greenhouse-gas emissions - this is every automaker`s obligation today. Among the chief innovations are the cylinder deactivations for V8 engines, available twin turbocharging and direct fuel injection and a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift facility. We don`t know which of these will be used in 2009 F -150 but there is no doubt that soon all of these changes will be brought to the trucks. However this will eventually happen no earlier 2010. As for features, the 2009 Ford F-150 should add standard front and curtain side airbags. An available all-surface four-wheel-drive option is also expected.

The lighter trucks can also get a few Super Duty options, for example a trailer-brake controller, power-extending side mirrors, and fold-out tailgate step. There is a tendency of turning the trucks from working car into luxury one.[VIA: consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com]
