Fisker hybrid sports car to return more than 100mpg Founder of Fisker Automotive, Henrik Fisker, is not going to abandon his performance car roots completely, however, as the model in question is a $100,000 four-door sports saloon. For instance, the wing-shaped front air intake is clearly seen on the photo.

Future Fisker Hybrid Supercar

However the technology underneath is all-new. Being a plug-in hybrid, the Fisker can run for 50 miles on a single charge. Only when the batteries are drained does the conventional engine kick in. you can choose between a petrol unit and a diesel and Fisker says a tank range of 620 miles is possible with the latter. The California car maker calculates all versions will easily return more than 100mpg. The newcomer will be built on a bespoke platform, while the drivetrain will be developed by Quantum Technologies, which has worked on hybrids with Toyota, General Motors and NASA.

By placing the battery packs between the axles rather than in the boot, Fisker claims that the newcomer will drive and handle as well as any rival. Sales will start next autumn. [VIA: autoexpress.com]
